The 5 Perfect Side Quests in Visions of Mana You Absolutely Cannot Afford to Skip

139

I’ve played Visions of Mana on PS5 twice now. Even after beating the main story I kept coming back to the game since there were side quests I wanted to finish. Some I wanted to play for the rewards, and others just because they were genuinely fun.

If you’re new to the game, it’s tempting to focus only on the main story. But trust me, a few side quests are absolutely worth doing. They give you powerful items, new abilities, and shortcuts that make the rest of the game smoother.

In this post, I want to share five side quests that made a big difference for me.

What Makes a Side Quest “Unmissable”?

Not all side quests are equal. The ones I’m talking about stand out because:

  • They give unique rewards you can’t get anywhere else.
  • They teach you mechanics you’ll need for harder parts of the game.
  • They appear at just the right time to help you level up and stay ahead.

Doing these quests early made a big difference for me, especially during boss fights later in the story. Get Visions of Mana on PlayStation 5 Store at the perfect possible price.

1. Nemesis Takedown

You’ll unlock this quest in Illystana after finishing the main mission called Traces of the Ancients.

It sends you back to eight ancient ruins. Each one has a “Nemesis”—a tougher version of a monster you’ve already seen. They’re harder, stronger, and change their elemental type mid-fight.

I waited until my team was around level 50, stocked up on healing items like Chocolate and Angel Grails, and then took them on one by one.

Why it’s worth doing:

  • You get an Ability Seed called Respect for the Ancients. It boosts your damage by 30%, but each normal attack costs 3% of your HP. It’s a trade-off, but it made my boss fights go much faster.
  • It teaches you how to adapt to changing enemy elements. That skill really helps later in the game.

2. Meelpa’s Methodology

Once you beat the boss Tor Marne in Castle Cresceno, head to the Fallow Steppe. There’s an old sword master named Meelpa near a windmill. He offers what he calls a “simple drill,” but it’s actually a tough three-wave fight.

You’ll battle a mix of enemies—rabites, molebears, and killer bees. They’re around level 42, so make sure your team is ready.

What you get:

  • A strong dagger called Ethereal Glimmeredge (good for Morley).
  • An Ability Seed called Meelpa’s Teachings, which increases attack by 30% but cuts defense in half. It’s great if you like high-damage builds.

Why it matters:

This fight helps you practice crowd control, elemental weaknesses, and dodging. These are all skills you’ll need in Chapter 8, especially during the big Benevodon battles.

3. Feelings Bottled Up

In Chapter 4, go to Ledgas Bay and talk to Limoney at the pier. He’ll send you on a quiet mission to collect items for people mourning the Mana Tree.

It’s a five-part quest that takes you across hidden beaches, cliff paths, and old ruins.

Reward:
You get the Invisible Bonds Ability Seed, which spreads out the MP cost of spells across your party. That means your healer won’t run out of magic while everyone else has full bars.

Bonus:
You also unlock new fast-travel crystals, making it easier to move around the map later. I did each part as soon as it became available, and it saved me a lot of time.

4. Behind the Scenery

You can start this as early as Chapter 2. Talk to Fiona in Longren Village. She’s an artist who wants you to take pictures of scenic spots around the world.

There are eight locations, and all you need to do is stand there and use Photo Mode.

What you get:
Every location gives you Gold Clovers, which you use in Illystana’s gacha shop to roll for passive perks.

By the end, I had:

  • Three epic-rarity traits
  • A ton of Lucre (the game’s currency)
  • A map full of useful markers for other collectables

It’s a simple quest, but it really pays off—especially for buying early gear and upgrades.

5. The Mythic Weapon Saga

This one unlocks after you beat the main story. You’ll meet Diem again in Illystana, who’s now researching ancient weapons.

There are five legendary weapons, each held by a superboss in Chapter 10.

These fights are tough. You’ll need to use everything you’ve learned—timing, class setups, weaknesses, and more.

What you get:

  • Blade of Triumph, Raitei, Ame no Habakiri, Gleipnir, and Paracelsus
  • The Endless Challenge Ability Seed, which boosts status effect chances by 10%

Each weapon also acts as a final upgrade for a party member, so you’re well-equipped for any post-game content.

Best Order to Do These

If you want a smooth playthrough without grinding, here’s the order I followed:

  1. Behind the Scenery (Parts 1–4): Chapters 2–5
  2. Feelings Bottled Up (Stages 1–3): Chapters 4–6
  3. Meelpa’s Methodology: After Castle Cresceno (Chapter 7)
  4. Nemesis Takedown: Midway through Chapter 8
  5. Mythic Weapon Saga: After finishing the story

This route kept my gear fresh, my level high enough, and the game enjoyable without needing to backtrack much.

Wrapping Up Your Mana Journey

A lot of Visions of Mana’s best content is off the main path. These five quests gave me new weapons, powerful abilities, and fun challenges that kept things interesting even on my second run.

If you’re just starting out, I really recommend doing these. They’ll make your journey smoother, and you’ll get more out of the game without having to guess what’s worth your time.
